Just a tender moment

So this is probably going to be my most "journal-like" entry. When I started this blog, I told myself that I wanted to do it mainly to record all of the hilarious, the random, and the heart-warming things that my 4 year old says to me so I don't ever forget just how dang precious she is.

Lately, Riley has been going through some separation anxiety. She really struggles every day that she can't come with me to my office or to practice. She wants every bit of my attention at home...just for one day, I want to count how many times she says "hey mom"...."hey mom"...."hey mom"...."hey mom"...I feel so bad when I'm busy because it usually comes out a little exasperated..."what Riley?"...."what Riley?"...."WHAT RILEY??"...then I instantly feel bad when her response is..."I love you".

Just the other day, I was driving her to preschool (another daily struggle), and the conversation was as follows:

R: Hey mom?
M: What Riley?
R: I love you.
M: Well, I love you too.
R: Are you gonna be gone all day?
M: Nope, I will be back to pick u up in a little bit.
R: Well, I will miss you all day. You just make my heart grow so big.

What an incredible kid!! And Riley, you cannot even begin to comprehend how much you've made my heart grow the past 4 1/2 years!

Picture stress

So I know I've been MIA for awhile...the stress of my new job (interim head coach) is taking its toll. I love it though, and I love going to work everyday (maybe not every day!!). I find myself running around like a chicken with my head cut off half the time. I do apologize to everybody I've left hanging by not texting back, emailing back, calling back, so on and so forth...and as I've left my camera at my mother's (I think), I don't have any Thanksgiving pics to post. And FYI, if this post gets published underlined, I've been messing with it for 10 min trying to get it un-underlined & I can't figure it out, so whatever!

I did, however, manage to get the girls' pictures done while I was in SLC. It was a chore to say the least. The place was packed. I'm so glad we got an "appointment"...we were there for almost 3 hours!! Park was soo good when we arrived, but an hour later, when we finally got taken back, she was ready to eat and sleep. So we got one good pose, and then we couldn't get her settled down, so I resorted to a 5min. bottle break. After that, she was fast asleep. The headband came off, soon to be followed by the fleece jammies, since we were all sweating profusely in the tight cramped room. She opened her eyes when we set her on the bench long enough to get a little smirk out of her, and then she dropped her head and closed her eyes...

So it was hard, but I'm glad my mother was there to keep me from ripping the head off the photographer who called Parker a boy...I guess the name Parker is SO unfathomable for a girl, that even if she is wearing pink pajamas and A BOW ON HER HEAD, if the name is Parker, must be a boy!! I'm used to it though and it's fine. I love my girls with boy names!! But we did come away with two cute poses...

Photo Tag...this one's for you, Hol!

4th picture from my 4th folder

Almost a year ago, to the day...Halloween 2007 (only a YEAR ago...man, I need to take more pictures)

Here's my photo...not real hilarious, although, I love the look on Riley's face..."no more pictures, Mom..." "...this dumb witch hat won't stay on..." And she was probably bummed about all the extra clothes she had to wear underneath to stay warm!!!

Hannah Montana...LIVE!!...in our bathroom!!

READ FIRST!!!!

So if any of you know Riley, you know she is kinda the shy reserved type when it comes to doing things in front of people...like dancing and singing in front of people, or even talking...she just doesn't do that. Well, I bought her a couple of sparkly headbands one day, and later that evening I caught her in our bathroom, standing on the toilet, singing and dancing in front of the mirror. These are rocker headbands!! I am videoing in the crack of the door between the hinges, because if she caught me watching her, she would be sooo embarrassed. Now, the concert starts when she turns on the light (you can hear her say "Ready...Go!!"). The words are simple: "Hannah Montana.....isn't she so cool???" ENJOY!! (and turn your volume up!!)

What can I say Riley?? You crack me up everyday and you make my heart sing!! You are so cool!!

Thanks Holly for bringing the babies up even when you knew it was going to be hard...hope you had fun. And thanks Jennie and Will for teaching me to play Texas Hold 'Em and kicking your butt...I really enjoyed my 5 Dollar Jackpot!!!

We Haven't Vanished!!

Don't worry...we're still alive!!! Has it been a month since my last post?? I don't believe it. A lot of fun things have happened since and I've got the pictures to support that, but I haven't even had time, and now I can't find my camera!! But be ready for some killer pictures of our family trip to Bear Lake, our team trip to Jackson Hole, and my BIG little baby!! Parker is just shy of 2 months and weighs every bit of 14 lbs, probably gaining that 15th pound right now as I type!! She weighs exactly half of what Riley weighs now and she is 4 1/2!! I'm in full baby-mode...it's amazing how your body gets used to and can fully function on 3-4 hours of sleep at night (with the help of venti iced white mocha with 4 shots of espresso). I'm still trying to figure her out and she definately keeps us on our toes. My so-called maternity leave is up at the end of the month, which wont really change anything, since I've pretty much been working and going to practice every day. We're really looking forward to going to Oklahoma next month for the OU/Texas game. We've been back every year for that game since we've been married, and its kind of become a thing for us to do every year. And Dylan's family will get to meet Parker for the first time, so it will be a fun time!!

Stay tuned for the pictures...I promise, they are really good!!!

Isn't She Lovely??

Parker came home today!!! She is such a good baby (so far....), I find myself just staring at her and waiting for her to do something. I have to wake her up to eat every 3 hours and then she just goes back to sleep!!! Hope I didn't just jinx myself!! Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts...Parker just flew right through the NICU and is doing great!!

All ready to go!!!

I think Riley would rather take "resusci-annie" (the CPR baby) home with us!!! She loved that doll...was almost as big as she was!!

The "N"(ICU) Word

The NICU haunts me in my nightmares. Well, I am convinced that I may never have an enjoyable birthing experience. After enduring 3 long months in the NICU with Riley, I was sure that this time would be different. We were so close to it... Let me bring you up to speed. I was 37 weeks pregnant with moderate to severe pregnancy-induced hypertension. I was in the doctor every day last week get blood pressure checks and urine checks. I felt so horrible every day. So when the on-call doctor offered to give me my c-section that day, (which you should NEVER do to a miserable pregnant woman...) with the assurance that she would have a LESS THAN 1% chance of spending time in the NICU, I fought back and forth with it and ultimately ended up taking the offer. So I'm here to announce the birth of Parker Florence Wilson. Born 7/17/08, 7 lbs., 19.5 inches. "Full-term". I saw her come out in the O.R. and cried because she was crying immediately and she was big and chubby and pink. Later learned that she was 7 pounds, breathing room air, APGARS of 8 and 9, and in the well-baby nursery. Later learned in the recovery room that she had been taken to the NICU to be checked out. Thought it was a joke...Anyway, the rest is history. Couldn't have picked a better weekend to have a baby in the NICU. They typically do not have neonatoligists see the babies, just the pediatricians. Well, my pediatrician has been out of town all week, and so his son, who is a neonatologist from Salt Lake City and whom I worked with at Primary Childrens Medical Center, has been here all week. He has been so wonderful and we're so blessed that Parker is receiving such wonderful care from him. He has also saved my sanity by explaining that Parker is full-term and her lungs are properly developed and I didn't jeopardize her health by opting for the early c-section. She is just fighting an infection in her lungs (most likely pneumonia) and its taking her a little longer than we thought it would. We are blessed to have her here, yet, even after a miserable last month of pregnancy, I already miss being pregnant and being so close to her. Cant wait to bring her home!!!

So we had the pleasure of having Dylan's parents visit us from Oklahoma for a few days a couple weeks ago. Riley was so excited...she doesn't get to see them as often as we'd like. They, as usual, spoiled and showered her with presents. We had a bunch of fun things planned, but the 40 degree weather with 50 mph winds for 3 days straight didn't permit us to do much except sit and visit and drive around our small town. It was fun and good to see them though. We are planning a trip after the 4th of July for Riley to go to Oklahoma with her dad and spend a week at her grandparents house. That will be so fun for her and she'll have a lot more fun things to do with them there!!!

So Riley finally got to ride a horse!! She has been talking about wanting to ride one for months. Well, her little preschool/daycare had one brought to the school for "cowboy week". First, I was told that it was a little tiny pony, so that's what I geared her up for...WRONG...full-grown, adult male horse. Second, I thought it would be something that she would just talk about, but then when it came time to actually do it, she wouldn't do it...wrong again. She just ran up to the horse and the teacher just threw her on there. She didn't want anybody touching her or holding her legs or anything. It was very exciting for her...made her mama proud to see her do that all by herself after watching more than half the "big kids" either cry or only ride on him with an adult.
